Food and Drinks
Pisang Peak Climbing’s food menu offers a variety of standard Western food to basic local food in the foothills of mountain peaks. Your food journey begins with excellent Nepali cuisine at a welcome dinner party. During your stay in Kathmandu, breakfast (only) will be provided. While trekking, all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) will be served during the trek and climb. You will be trying delicious food in Nepal, such as the famous DaalBhaatTarkari, composed of white rice (Bhat), lentils (Daal), and a mixture of green vegetables curry with Pickles, local wheat bread, a variety of soups, and many more. Moreover, when you are climbing Pisang Peak, a hygienic meal high in protein will be provided, where you can also observe cooking camp meals at the top of the mountain.
However, for the beverage section, we will provide three cups of black tea during the trek, whereas milk tea is not available for your own benefit, and for coffee and bottled mineral water during the trek, you have to pay from your personal expenses, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and snacks.
Pisang Peak Climbing Permit
Located in the Annapurna Region of Nepal, Pisang Peak Climbing offers an excellent journey where you can taste the real joy of mountaineering and trekking at once. With the basic knowledge of climbing, you can summit Pisang Peak. But before summiting Pisang Peak, you need to grab special permits to climb.
Let's look at the three types of permits, which are listed below:
- ACAP permit (Annapurna Conservation Area Project)
- TIMS Card (Trekkers Information Management System)
- Pisang Peak Climbing Permit
Note: the cost of the Pisang Peak Climbing Permit is varying from based on the time of year.
Lodge and Accommodation
You'll be staying in the deluxe 3-star hotel (3 nights) in Kathmandu on a BB plan basis. During the trek, all accommodation on the mountain will be at a standard Teahouse lodge (8 nights), and for 2 nights you will set up a tent when climbing the Pisang Peak. However, all accommodation is on a twin-shared basis, where toilets and bathrooms need to be shared in some teahouses during the trek. Please note that a single room will also be available on your special request at an extra charge. All in all, we will assure you that we will accommodate you at the best tea house lodge during the trek.
High Altitude and Acclimatization
Pisang Peak Climbing is at an altitude of 6091m, and with such high altitudes, even a physically fit person may have acute mountain sickness (AMS). If you are wondering what is Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), and then it is a condition that occurs when you travel at a high altitude where you have a lower oxygen level and decreased air pressure and you don’t have enough time to adjust to the situation, as a result, you may experience dizziness, headache, muscle aches, nausea, and vomiting. Sometimes in severe cases, it can be life-threatening.
Therefore, we design our Pisang Peak Climbing itinerary in a way that will avoid directly climbing Pisang Peak, which is going to help you with acclimatization. We will head towards the Manang Valley from Pisang Village instead of Upper Pisang to climb Pisang Peak, which not only helps you with acclimatization but also gives you the chance to trek the best side trek to Ice Lake (Kicho Lake). With proper acclimatization, you can easily reduce the chances of getting AMS. Moreover, our professional trek leader will make sure that you are drinking enough water as well as taking a homemade remedy, garlic soup, which plays an important role in avoiding AMS. Other than that, your basic first aid-trained and qualified leader will be carrying all the essential first aid kits during the trek. If you have any kind of trouble with mountain sickness or any medical emergency, your leader will act accordingly to help and guide you safely through the mountains.
Transportation
We, Nepal Adventure Team, provide you with all the necessary transportation for your trek. All ground transportation, including airport pick-up and departure transportation services, will be available. Not only that we provide private vehicles during the sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley.
Guide and Staff
Nepal Adventure Team provides highly qualified Guides and Porters. Our fully trained, experienced, and licensed guides and staff will make sure that you have a memorable and pleasant journey. We also assure you that they have undergone a whole lot of training to make themselves useful in various situations. They had a decade of experience, which helped to overcome any unforeseen circumstances that happened during the trek. Besides that, we also have fully equipped porters with the gear they need as per the company policy. They are always insured and completely looked after by Nepal Adventure Team. During the Pisang Peak Climbing, we allow a maximum weight of 25kg to be carried by one porter. Your team leader will accompany you throughout the trek. When you are at Upper Pisang, you will meet your other climbing team members, who include 1 experienced, helpful, and friendly climbing guide, 1 cook, and a porter (1 porter for 2 people). We believe that Guides and staff are the backbone of our company. Therefore, we always make sure they are well-paid and well-treated.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is a must when you travel abroad. Therefore, before you come to Nepal, please make sure you have your insurance documents with you, since our insurance companies cannot insure foreign nationals. Because of the reason that they cover all the expenses if you face some unfortunate happenings and you have to be rescued or medically assisted during the trip, or if your belongings are lost or stolen.
Solo Travellers
We have arranged for a single traveler to pay for a single trip only. He has to share the accommodation with other people of the same sex, though he can also join the other groups.
Health and Fitness Required
No previous experience is required since it's a moderate trek. But being a healthy person, physically and mentally, is very important. It is better if we prepare ourselves a few days/weeks before the start of the trek by jogging and running regularly, since we will be walking a lot of ups and downs in the hills, ridges, villages, and mountains. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions should inform us beforehand.
First Aid Kit/High Altitude Sickness
Nepal Adventure Team strongly suggests that you have your own personal first aid or medical kit. This trip takes you to some high altitudes, though not much, but the slow walks and regular stops between the walks will help you acclimatize to high altitude, saving you from the high altitude sickness called AMS(acute mountain sickness). Gaining altitude without proper consideration of AMS is fatal.
Your Guide and Porter
Since mountain trekking takes you to remote places over high altitudes, the leader should have a piece of significant knowledge in the field so that he can wonderfully and safely lead you there, clearing any obstacles on the way. We, Nepal Adventure Team, can proudly say that our guides are highly qualified for the role. They are fully trained, experienced, and licensed. They have undergone a whole lot of training to make themselves useful in various situations and to make your journey a smooth and pleasant one.
Our porters are always fully equipped with the gear they need, and as per the company policy, they are always insured and completely looked after. They are our backbone. We allow a maximum weight of 25 kg to be carried by one porter. We make sure that they are well-paid and well-treated.
