Kakani Suryachaur Day Hike is an easy day hike to Suryachaur through the Kakani area, Gurju Bhanjyang, and returning to Kathmandu from Jhor area. The trails traverse through Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park and enable travelers to enjoy diverse flora and fauna. Additionally, the bird-watching enthusiasm does have a great time on the hilly side of Kathmandu in Suryachaur Day Hike.

Suryachaur

Suryachaur is a hill station to enjoy the Langtang Himalayan Range as well as the entire Likhu Valley of Nuwakot District of central Nepal. In addition to Langtang Himalayan Range, visitors get a great view of Manaslu, Ganesh, Dorje Lakpa, Gauri Shankar. Though you need to climb uphill and Suryachaur is a hill station, Suryachaur is a wide flat ground at the ridge supplying infinite natural beauty and pleasing sensation to its visitors.

Kakani

Kakani is the nearest viewpoint of Kathmandu valley, tiers of hills accompanied by mountain ranges. Kakani stands at an elevation of 2,030m/ 6,660 ft. Namely, mountain ranges such as Ganesh, Manaslu, Langtang, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri are visible and showcase the dramatic landscape of Mid-central Nepal.

Kakani hill is located on route to Langtang and Ganesh Himal trekking and mountaineering adventure. Kakani area is filled with farm terraces and villages where most of the farmers harvest strawberries and raise freshwater trout. For the people of Kathmandu, it is the best destination to create a fantastic weekend and an attractive spot for a picnic. Additionally, Kakani has a Nepal Army School of police and scout training center and a memorial site for Thai Airways that crashed in 1992 on the high ridges of Langtang Himal. Travelers also enjoy bird watching in the peaceful green environment of Kakani which is filled with woods of rhododendron, oaks, pines, and fir tree lines.

Transportation at Kakani Suryachaur Day Hike

Early morning after you have your breakfast, the guide assigned by the Nepal Adventure team will come to pick you up for the hike. You will have a short drive to Kakani from your hotel and from Jhor to Kathmandu at your hotel. A private vehicle will be used for your transportation which may be a car or van as per the group size.

Food and drinks on Kakani Suryachaur Day Hike

Lunch will be provided during Suryachaur Day Hike. Basically, typical Nepali food: Dhaal(lentil soup), Bhat (Rice), Tarkari (Vegetable/Chicken curry), and pickle.

A Mineral water bottle is handed to you prior to the hike.

    Drive to Kakani

    Early morning, the guide from Nepal Adventure Team will come to pick you up for Suryachaur Day Hike at your hotel. You will have a scenic drive to Kakani from Kathmandu. The road trip will take you through the countryside road filled with small settlements, hills, farmlands, and ridges.

    Hike from Kakani to Suryachaur

    Once you reach Kakani, you will begin walking through Kakani village. The further trail is through open hills and dense forests. The trail is the combination of larger steep ascends and smaller descend. On the way, some mountain ranges are also visible along with Tamang villages, hills, and terraced farming. You pass through the main landmark Gurju Bhanjyang and land to Suryachaur.

    Hike from Suryachaur to Jhor, Tokha

    After having lunch and exploring Suryachaur, you will walk downhill on another trail. This trail will lead you to Jhor, Tokha Municipality. The area is populated by Newar and Tamang community. From there, you will drive back to Kathmandu and drop at your hotel
