Best Season for Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek

The best time of the year for a 12-day luxury Everest Base Camp Trek is the month of March to April (Spring Season) and September to November (Autumn Season). This time of the year offers you clear mesmerizing vistas of the mighty mountains. The weather will be pleasant and welcoming.

The months of March, April, and May are the blossoming time of the year. Nature becomes alive and vibrant with different colorful flowers. The temperature will be mild and the day will be pleasant. The skies will be clear offering awe-inspiring vistas of snow-capped mountains. The trail will be decorated with different colors of Rhododendrons – the national flower of Nepal. However, it is the busiest time of the year as the region will be accommodated with many trekkers.

Autumn season falls in September, October, and November. Generally, the days will be pleasant with moderated temperatures and stable weather. The clear skies and few clouds will offer unobstructed vistas of the mighty mountains. The atmosphere will be festive and lively as the greatest festival of Nepalese – Dashain and Tihar falls in this season. You get to experience local culture, traditions, and their way of celebration.

The winter season will be pretty hard for a luxury trek to Everest Base Camp. The temperature will be cold with lots of snow on the trails. There is a chance of avalanches and landslides so don’t travel alone. However, there will be a few trekkers on the trails so you can experience a serene and peaceful hike to Everest Base Camp. The weather will be clear in the morning providing stunning vistas of the mighty mountains. You need to pack warm clothes and proper equipment for the extreme cold temperatures.

The other season – The monsoon isn’t favorable for luxury Everest Base Camp Trek as there will be rainfall causing landslides and floods. The day will be cloudy obstructing the vistas of snow-capped mountains. The weather will be warmer and humid.

Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek Accommodation and Meal

During a 12-day luxury trek to Everest Base Camp, the accommodation will be luxurious providing you with all the services for your comfort. You’ll stay in a 5-star hotel in Kathmandu in a deluxe room. On the trek, you’ll stay at a luxurious teahouse for 9 nights and a normal lodge for 3 nights in the high mountains. You will get high-nutritional meals to fuel your body for ascending and descending the rugged terrain. The food options will be mainly traditional and local cuisine, Western and Asian Cuisine. Seasonal fruits and salads will be provided on every night stop.

It is highly recommended to eat soupy and liquid items such as Lemon Ginger Honey, Ginger Tea, Lemon Tea, and garlic soup. They are highly beneficial at high altitudes to keep you hydrated and warm. You should give it a try to staple Nepali food – Dal Bhat which is a wholesome and balanced meal (carbs, protein, fluid, minerals, and vitamins).

However, we advise not to consume non-veg items as it takes longer time and energy to break down the protein contained in meat. Also, proper hygiene and sanitation are hard to maintain for their storage. Moreover, lessens the consumption of alcoholic drinks and caffeinated items as they dehydrate your body.

Note to consider personal preferences, health considerations, and conditions of the trek while making food and beverage choices.

In the event of flight cancellation/delay in/out of Lukla:

Due to bad weather conditions(might even happen in the best season), it is very likely that the flight to/from Lukla could be delayed or canceled so make sure you have a day or two extra in your plan.

Means of Transport

Tourist bus or private vehicle and walking. All the cost is already included unless otherwise noted.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is a must when you travel abroad. Therefore before you come to Nepal, please make sure you have your insurance documents with you since our insurance companies cannot insure foreign nationals. Because of the reason that they cover all the expenses if you face some unfortunate happenings and you have to be rescued or medically assisted during the trip or if your belongings are lost or stolen.

Solo Travellers

We have arranged for a single traveler to pay for a single trip only. He has to share the accommodation with other people of same-sex though while he can also join the other groups.

Foods and Accommodations

All meals are provided during the trek while only breakfast will be available in Kathmandu. Generally, traditional Nepalese(daal, Bhat, curry, and pickle), Tibetan, Continental, Indian and other cuisines are available in the local lodges/teahouses. There will also be a welcome and farewell dinner for guests in Kathmandu. In Kathmandu, you'll be staying in the best quality standard hotel, on a twin-sharing basis. On trekking, accommodations are simple yet comfortable on-mountain lodges. Toilets and bathrooms need to be shared in some teahouses.
Note: Single room is always available but only on special request and spending extra bucks.

Health and Fitness required

No previous experience is required since it's a moderate trek. But you being a healthy person, physically and mentally is very important. It is better if we prepare ourselves a few days/weeks prior to the start of the trek by jogging and running regularly since will be walking a lot of ups and downs in the hills, ridges, villages, and mountains. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions should inform us beforehand.

First Aid Kit/High Altitude Sickness

Nepal Adventure Team strongly suggests that you have your own personal first aid or medical kit. This trip takes you to some high altitudes though not much but the slow walks and regular stops between the walks will help you acclimatize to high altitude saving you from the high altitude sickness called AMS(acute mountain sickness). Gaining altitude without proper consideration of AMS is fatal.

Your Guide and Porter

Since mountain trekking takes you to remote places over high altitudes, the leader should have a piece of significant knowledge in the field so that he can wonderfully and safely lead you there clearing any obstacles on the way. We, Nepal Adventure Team can proudly say that our guides are highly qualified for the role. They are fully trained, experienced, and licensed. They have undergone a whole lot of training to make themselves useful in various situations and to make your journey a smooth and pleasant one.

Th best Everest Base Camp Trek

Thanks to Nepal Adventure Team (NAT) for the Everest Base Camp experiences. If possible, we would like to be back there again. Maybe to try other hiking routes that the Himalayas could offer. Lovely people there. From the NAT team as well as the locals there. I will recommend to others for the great services that we had the last time. Cheers.
